DIY Valentine Heart Steamers

Planning to decorate this Valentines day? We've been busy making DIY heart garlands using rich red crepe streamers ready for this Sunday. They're very simple to make and are perfect for hanging up and adding a little bit of romance to your home.

Read on to discover how to make your own DIY heart streamers. Make your Valentine garlands as long as you like, and in as many colours as you like. Use a small piece of blue tac to attach the DIY garland to a wall, or drape from a piece of string with curled ribbons to create a lovely hanging curtain of creative hearts!

How to make a Valentine Heart Garland

1. Take a piece of card and draw out a heart shape, approx. 1.5 inches, or as wide as your streamer. Cut this out (fold in half to get a symmetrical heart too!). This will be your stencil.
2. Using your stencil as a guide, begin folding your strip or red crepe streamer in a concertina effect to this size. Be careful to keep the edges of the streamer lined up and your folds even.
3. Once you have folded enough streamer to make the length of heart garland you want, you can begin cutting out your heart shape.
4. Draw around your stencil on the top side of the crepe streamer and use this as a guide to carefully cut out the heart shape with a pair of sharp scissors.
5. Unfold your crepe steamer to reveal your DIY heart garland!

Repeat the process as many times as you like, and use other coloured steamers for a bit of colour too.
